I am…

I’m an EFL teacher with 25 years of experience with learners of all ages. I hold a BA degree in teaching English as a foreign language to young learners, and an MA degree in TESOL from Masaryk University in Brno, the Czech Republic. Throughout my career, I have worked in the private as well as the state sector of education. Currently, I am teaching English to students aged 11 to 19 at a grammar school in the Czech Republic.

I love thought-provoking discussions on ELT topics and education. I am passionate about social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and WordPress) and the plethora of possibilities they offer, and I am constantly seeking opportunities to develop professionally, especially through conferences, connecting with my personal learning network, and blogging. I am very proud that some of my articles have been published elsewhere too:

Teaching is Measurable, ELT Rants, Reviews, and Reflections, July 2014

Continuous Assessment, TeachingEnglish blog, July 2015

No-prep Activities, TeachingEnglish blog, August 2015

Teaching Teenagers: a Nightmare or a Challenge? The iTDi Blog, February 2016

Go Light! The BELTA Bulletin, Issue 7, Spring 2016 (p.10)

A Perspective That Might Surprise You, The BELTA Bulletin, Issue 9 Autumn 2016 (p.13)

Speaking? Yes, please! Low-tech and low-prep activities which will get your teenage students speaking, ETAS Journal, Volume 35, No. 3, Summer 2018 (pp. 34-35)

Blogging opened some more opportunities for me. In March 2017, for the first time in my life, I presented at the ILC International House Brno conference

In April 2018, I had the pleasure to be a conference reporter for the 22nd P.A.R.K. conference for English teachers in Brno, Czech Republic. You can read about my experience here.

In September 2018, I was interviewed for the Garnet Education blog. You can read the post here.

In April 2019, I presented at the 24th P.A.R.K. Conference in Brno. My topic was How teachers can benefit from reading and writing blogs. You can read about my experience here.

P.S.: I used to be on Blogger in the past, but I couldn’t resist the constant nudging from my fellow ELT bloggers to migrate to WordPress (hence the comments below). Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy reading!

Hello! It is strange and nice to see you here. Please expect a massive increase in comments form me, now that I no longer have the “blogger annoys me” excuse.

  2. Hello, Hana. I have also been thinking about migrating to wordpress. Was it too much work to transfer your blog? All the best here, too!
